Produced in the early 2000s the Grand Seiko SBGF family used to be Grand Seiko's only sports collection before they started producing divers, GMTs and chronographs.
In the usual Grand Seiko fashion, the watch is well finished in both brushed and Zaratsu polished finishing with brushed finishing more dominant since it’s a sports watch.
The white tatami textured dial boasts a strongly three-dimensional appearance, thanks to the substantially sized appliqués and hands. Lumes are applied to both the hands and indices for easy time reading in low light settings.
Unlike the current Grand Seiko sports watches, the watch sits extremely well on the wrist at just 10.5mm in thickness, 38mm in diameter and 44mm lug to lug.
The watch also features a screw down crown accompanied by crown guard.
Powering the watch is the calibre 8J56. The watch boasts of an accuracy of ±10s/year which is the same as the 9Fs but has a battery life of 5 years instead of 3 years and an independent hour hand which allows quick change of time between different time zones.
The watch case is in excellent condition with common hairline scratches seen on the case. The watch dial and hands are free from any signs of aging. The crystal is free from and scratches.
The watch comes on its original bracelet that fits up to 19.5cm wrist.
